Frequently asked question: Why is Char Doonan's name part of the title?

Frequent Answer: Artists and photographers generally use their name in conjunction with their artistic products. Char Doonan, the Chief Creative Officer (CCO) uses her technician-like skills along with some amazingly creative and artistic abilities to achieve one goal: the creation of beautiful images. CanDew is the business part of the equation, transforming these digital works of art along with other businesses such as printers, weaving companies, seamstresses, etc., offering a wonderful variety of products.

HISTORY
Over 25 years in graphic design, imaging and print. Char Doonan started out on computerized typesetting equipment, rode the technology bus staying current with all the newest tools. She loves technology and is still riding that bus and gets excited every time anything new is released. Keeping up with all the changes is a happy part of her daily routine. From the early 1980s, Char could be heard saying, “No one knows where the technology bus is going to go or in which direction it will travel, but you can bet your sweet bippie I want to be on it when it arrives at its final destination!”

In 1995, Char's entire art department at a corporation's headquarters was eliminated where she worked for 5 years. At that time she started up CanDew Communications Design. Since then, the business morphed and expanded from web and graphic design to digital imaging & artistry.

Also in 1995 Marquette University (MU) offered one of the first Web Design Certificates in the region. Char received her certificate and as the College of Professional Studies (under the MU umbrella) expanded their IT courses, Char became an instructor and taught for over 6 years a variety of courses relating to web design and several different graphic applications. She was on their advisory board, wrote the design curriculums and defined the two distinct sides of the web as they related to the Web Development and Web Design courses and certificates at MU.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Char is Past President of Kenosha Women’s Network, was on the board for Wisconsin Women Entrepreneurs (WWE) and a member of the Susan B. Anthony Award committee for three years. Also she was on the advisory board for Gateway Technical College’s graphic design department.

CURRENT
Char is now a full-time RVer. Traveling has always been Char’s (and her husband Jim’s) dream. With advanced technology she can now work just about anywhere. Working the trade shows at RV regional and international shows around the country gives exposure to sell her FUNctional products while she does what she loves to do; travel, meet new people and digitally create art!
